TÜV Rheinland: New Accreditation for Grid Connection of Power Generation Systems

Accreditation at DAkkS in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065 / Europe-wide certification of energy storage systems and components, charging systems for electric vehicles and inverters for grid connection

The German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) has authorized TÜV Rheinland LGA Products GmbH to certify products, processes and services related to the grid integration of power generation units and systems in accordance with the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013 standard. TÜV Rheinland can thus certify, for example, that energy storage systems and components, charging stations for electric vehicles, or inverters comply with the grid codes for all of Europe. In addition, TÜV Rheinland’s experts can perform corresponding safety tests on the products.

The extended accreditation for TÜV Rheinland helps to ensure that even smaller power generation plants can be integrated reliably into the power grids, contributing to their overall robustness. “As a result of the energy transition, the number of smaller power generators relying on renewable energies is increasing. It is therefore becoming ever more important to integrate the electricity generated in this way into the power grids. With the extended accreditation, we can certify that energy storage systems or charging stations for electric vehicles, for instance, integrate reliably with the power grids. This strengthens confidence in our customers’ products,” explains Roman Brück, head of the Power Electronics department at TÜV Rheinland.
